Emergency Orthodontist for Visitors to Las Vegas
Poking wire on day two of a five-day trip? We see travellers in treatment with another orthodontist. No records required, no lengthy intake, and we tell your own office what we did.
First, make it bearable
Most of what goes wrong is uncomfortable rather than dangerous, and can be managed until you can get to us or home.
Poking wire
Orthodontic wax over the end solves it in seconds. No wax? Sugar-free chewing gum pressed over the wire is a genuine field substitute until you can buy some — most drugstores on the Strip carry ortho wax.
Loose bracket
If it is still on the wire, leave it there and cover with wax. If it came off completely, keep it in a tissue or a bag and bring it. Avoid chewing on that side.
Lost aligner
Go back to your previous set immediately rather than skipping ahead or wearing nothing. If you left the previous set at home, call us before you improvise.
General soreness
Over-the-counter pain relief and soft food. If you have just had an adjustment before travelling, two or three days of tenderness is expected.
Mouth ulcer or rub
Warm salt water rinses several times a day. Hotel rooms rarely have salt — any restaurant will give you some.
Lost retainer
Common on trips, since they come out at meals. Call us — we can often scan and make a replacement while you are here rather than letting your teeth drift for a week.
Go to an emergency room instead, not to us, for a blow to the face or head, a suspected broken jaw, bleeding that will not stop, significant facial swelling, or a knocked-out permanent tooth. Braces can wait; those cannot.
What we can and cannot do for a visiting patient
We can
- Re-bond a loose or lost bracket
- Trim or tuck a poking wire
- Replace a lost or broken ligature or elastic module
- Re-cement a loose band or appliance
- Relieve a wire causing injury to the cheek or gum
- Scan and make a replacement retainer
- Provide wax, elastics and basic supplies
Same-visit fixes
We generally will not
- Advance your treatment sequence or change your wire progression
- Alter the treatment plan another orthodontist is executing
- Take over your case for a short trip
- Issue new aligner sets from another practice’s prescription
Left to your own orthodontist
This is not caution for its own sake. Your orthodontist has a plan with a sequence to it, and someone stepping in mid-course without the records can genuinely set your treatment back. We fix the problem, document what we did, and let them carry on.
From phone call to fixed
Call (702) 706-2468
Tell us what has happened and when you fly out. Calling beats emailing — we can usually tell you within a minute whether it needs an appointment or whether wax will get you home.
We find you a slot
We hold time for problems like this. If you are on a tight schedule, say so and we will work around your day rather than the other way round.
Bring almost nothing
Photo ID and any broken piece you kept. Records from your orthodontist are helpful but genuinely not required for a repair — we can see what needs doing.
The repair itself
Most take fifteen to thirty minutes. Loose brackets and poking wires are routine and you will be out quickly.
We write to your orthodontist
With your permission we send a short note describing exactly what we did, so nothing is a surprise at your next appointment back home. This matters more than people expect.
We are not on the Strip, and that is the point
Our office is at 9480 S. Eastern Ave, Suite 145 — about fifteen to twenty minutes south-east of the Strip, just off the 215. Rideshare from most resorts runs roughly that.
Being off-Strip means free parking directly outside the door, no garage, no resort traffic and no valet queue. If you are driving a rental, that is genuinely faster than anywhere central.
We are also about ten minutes from Henderson, twelve from the airport, and close to the M Resort and South Point if you are staying south of the Strip.
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM. We are on a reduced schedule for a short period at present, so please call ahead rather than turning up.
What to pack if you travel in braces
Orthodontic wax
Solves most problems on the spot and weighs nothing. Ask your orthodontist for a few tins before any trip — they hand them out free.
Your previous aligner set
If you are in Invisalign, always travel with the previous set as well as the current one. A lost aligner on a trip becomes a non-event.
Your retainer case
Retainers are lost on trips more than anywhere else, almost always wrapped in a napkin at a restaurant. If it is out of your mouth, it is in the case.
Spare elastics
If your treatment uses elastics, bring far more than you need. Running out mid-trip stalls your progress.
Your orthodontist's number
Saved in your phone, not written down somewhere at home. A local office can often sort a problem faster after one call to yours.
A travel toothbrush
Brushing after meals matters more with braces, and hotel bathrooms are not always well equipped.
Visiting patient FAQ
Can you see me if my orthodontist is in another state?
Yes. We regularly see visitors in active treatment elsewhere who need a repair while in Las Vegas. You do not need to transfer your care or bring records — we fix the immediate problem and, with your permission, send a short note to your own orthodontist describing what we did.
Do I need my records or X-rays?
Not for a repair. A loose bracket, poking wire or lost ligature does not require your treatment records — we can see what needs doing. Records matter if you were asking us to advance your treatment, which is generally something we would leave to your own orthodontist.
How much does an emergency visit cost for a visitor?
Repairs for patients not under our care are charged as a single visit rather than as part of a treatment fee. It depends on what is needed. Call (702) 706-2468 and we will tell you before you come in, so there are no surprises.
Can you see me the same day?
Often, yes — we hold time for this. Tell us when you fly out and we will work around your schedule. We are currently on a reduced schedule for a short period, so calling early in the day gives you the best chance.
Will you change my wire or advance my treatment?
Generally not. Your orthodontist is working to a sequence, and stepping into that mid-course without the plan can genuinely set your treatment back. We resolve the immediate problem and leave the progression to them.
I lost my retainer on holiday. Can you help?
Yes, and quickly is better. Teeth begin drifting within days, so a replacement made while you are still here will fit considerably better than one made a fortnight after you get home. We scan and fabricate for patients treated anywhere.
How far are you from the Strip?
Roughly fifteen to twenty minutes south-east, just off the 215 at Eastern Avenue. Being off-Strip means free parking directly outside, no garage and no valet queue — usually faster than anywhere central if you are driving.
My child is here for a tournament and broke a bracket. What now?
Call us. Sports tournaments are one of the more common reasons we see visiting patients. Cover it with wax in the meantime, and if they are still competing, ask us about a mouthguard that fits over braces properly.
Do not spend your trip with a wire in your cheek.
Call (702) 706-2468. Most repairs take twenty minutes, we do not need your records, and we will let your own orthodontist know exactly what we did.
